The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Petteri Nummelin from the Atlanta Thrashers for a conditional draft pick in 2006 or 2007.

Nummelin is a standout offensive defenseman when in Europe, but he flamed out in his previous NHL shot. He'll get another crack at it under Jacques Lemaire in Minnesota. Look for Nummelin to become a power-play specialist for the Wild.
What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
The Thrashers were not interested in bringing Nummelin over, so they took a conditional pick in exchange for his rights. Considering the circumstances, the Thrashers received something for nothing.
