MARIAN HOSSA TO PITTSBURGH!

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired right winger Marian Hossa and winger Pascal Dupuis from the Atlanta Thrashers for center Angelo Esposito, right winger Colby Armstrong, center/winger Erik Christensen and a first-round draft pick in 2008.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
Hossa was the big fish of the deadline, and he'll eventually land alongside the biggest fish in the league... Sidney Crosby. He's the scoring winger the Penguins were seeking for their captain, while Dupuis will add grit and third-line experience. This move likely means the Pens will be the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference.

What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
Thrashers GM/interim coach Don Waddell was in a tough spot, but he desperately wanted NHL talent in return for Hossa. Enter Armstrong and Christensen, who will both help Atlanta today and down the road. Esposito and the first rounder in '08 turn this trade into a long-range gold mine for Waddell.
