MAYO MOVED TO VEGAS
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired defenseman Dysin Mayo from the Arizona Coyotes for a fifth-round draft pick in 2023 and defenseman Shea Weber.
What does it give the Vegas Golden Knights
For Vegas, adding Mayo is basically a depth move for the blueline. Mayo is not likely to see much playing time in the NHL down the stretch (unless they once again run into a string of defensive injuries). Unlikely.
What does it give the Arizona Coyotes
Arizona is going to trade away more talent before the deadline, so they may actually need Weber's cap hit to reach the salary floor by the end of the 2022-23 campaign. Getting a fifth-rounder for Mayo is good business for 'Zona.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Mayo will probably remain in the AHL ad infinitum and Weber is unofficially officially retired from hockey. Nothing to see here.
