NASHVILLE JETTISONS JEANNOT TO TAMPA

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired forward Tanner Jeannot from the Nashville Predators for defenseman Cal Foote, a third-round draft pick in 2023, a fourth-round draft pick in 2023, a fifth-round draft pick in 2023, a second-round draft pick in 2024 and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2025.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
Jeannot is exactly the type of player the Lightning love to acquire for playoff hockey. He is a gritty, two-way winger who can chip in some offense. He could join Tampa's third line alongside Nick Paul and Ross Colton to create one of the better third units in all of hockey. The Bolts have no first-round pick until 2026 after this trade, and their next second-round pick will come in 2025. It is all about winning.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
This trade signals that Nashville is going to be a major seller. Jeannot was one of their best young players last season before struggling somewhat in 2022-23. It feels like the Predators got more quantity than quality here. However, Foote still has potential and should receive a boost in an organization known for developing defenseman. The first-round pick in 2025 acquired in this trade is top-10 protected.

Fantasy impact
Jeannot should see a boost in his offensive numbers playing with the talent the Lightning have to offer up front. He will not likely play on the first power-play unit but could see some time with the second group. He is worth adding in deeper leagues for sure, and he is definitely more valuable in leagues that value hits.
