HRONEK HEADS TO VANCOUVER

The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Filip Hronek and a fourth-round draft pick in 2023 from the Detroit Red Wings for a conditional first-round draft pick in 2023 and a second-round draft pick in 2023.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks are retooling their roster before this season's trade deadline, so adding Hronek is a nice move for the future. He is still young and is signed through next season, so Vancouver has high hopes for Hronek.

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings are still in playoff contention this season, but GM Steve Yzerman is tinkering with his roster before the deadline. He was able to land quality future assets in this deal, but does he now need another defenseman?

Fantasy impact
Hronek has fairly solid fantasy value, but he will now play behind Quinn Hughes on the power play in Vancouver. Buyer beware.
