SUNDQVIST SENT TO MINNESOTA
The Minnesota Wild acquired forward Oskar Sundqvist from the Detroit Red Wings for a fourth-round draft pick in 2023.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Sundqvist is a nice replacement for Jordan Greenway, who was traded to Buffalo in an earlier deal. Sundqvist has Stanley Cup championship pedigree and an expiring contract. That is the appeal here.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings decided to sell off a few players recently, including Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Hronek. Sundqvist is the latest. Detroit GM Steve Yzerman is resetting his roster right now, but expect him to be very active this off-season.
Fantasy impact
Sundqvist is mostly a strong defensive player with modest offensive upside. There is no need to pick him up in most fantasy formats.
