DUCKS DEAL KLINGBERG TO MINNESOTA
The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman John Klingberg from the Anaheim Ducks for defensemen Andrej Sustr, center Nikita Nesterenko, and a fourth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
In Klingberg, the Wild get a proven power-play quarterback who will likely play that role for Minnesota down the stretch. His arrival is bad news for Calen Addison, who was not playing regularly in recent weeks. Klingberg is probably a rental for the Wild.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Nesterenko could be the key to the deal from an Anaheim perspective. He has projectable size and some offensive acumen. He is completing his junior year at Boston College and could be someone Anaheim signs before the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
Fantasy impact
Klingberg could see a significant uptick in power-play ice time down the stretch. Pick him up, if available. Nesterenko should now be on the fantasy keeper radar. Sustr has no fantasy value.
