CHRISTENSEN TO DUCKS
The Anaheim Ducks acquired forward Erik Christensen from the Atlanta Thrashers for forward Eric O'Dell.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks lost Brendan Morrison to waivers but they hope the addition of Christensen and former Bruin Petteri Nokelainen (in a separate deal) can help down the middle. Christensen's scoring potential has always been high but his work ethic has never been good enough to succeed at the NHL level. The Ducks could be his last chance.
What does it give the Atlanta Thrashers
O'Dell is a point-per-game player for the OHL's Sudbury Wolves this season and has a little bit more upside than the older Christensen. He could be a part of Atlanta's long-term rebuilding process but it won't be for a little while still. Christensen was definitely given the opportunity to shine as a Thrasher but he didn't take full advantage of the situation.
