COLIN MILLER MOVED TO NEW JERSEY
The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Colin Miller from the Dallas Stars for a fifth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Miller is a right-handed defenseman who plays a two-way game with an offensive touch. He could replace Damon Severson on the Devils' third pairing if he can win a battle in training camp with top prospect Simon Nemec.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
For Dallas, Miller was no longer in their future plans. They did well to get an asset back when many salaries are being traded away for nothing these days. The cap space created may be used on free agents.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade as Miller is not guaranteed to be a regular in the Devils lineup for the 2023-24 campaign. This move hurts Nemec a bit, but the latter is still expected to see plenty of action in the NHL in '23-24. The big winners after this trade could be young Stars blueliners Nils Lundqvist and Thomas Harley.
