The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Artemi Kniazev from the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Leon Gawanke.
What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
Kniazev is a 22-year-old defenseman who has played one game in the NHL (2021-2022 with San Jose). He will look for a greater opportunity to play NHL games with the Jets. Unfortunately, he is stuck behind a logjam on the left side.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
Gawanke signed to play in his native Germany back in May, not expecting to have an opportunity in Winnipeg. However, reports suggest the Sharks are keen to sign Gawanke to keep him in North America. Stay tuned.

There is no fantasy impact with this trade as both players are unlikely to make the opening night lineup. Keep an eye on both players, though.
