The Blackhawks have recently lost winger Taylor Hall to injury for the rest of the season, and waived veteran winger Corey Perry for violating terms of his contract. Therefore, they needed help. Beauvillier gets a fresh start in Chicago after a difficult run with the Canucks. He should get far more ice time in Chicago.

For the Canucks, getting rid of over $4 million of cap space is a huge deal at this time. Vancouver was rumored to be on the verge of trading winger Conor Garland instead of Beauvillier earlier this season. However, Garland's performance likely means he will remain with the Canucks for the time being.

In many league formats, Beauvillier is worth picking up at this time. He is likely available in a lot of leagues because he had been playing on the fourth line in Vancouver. He is a good bet to play a top-six forward role in Chicago.
