DAMIANI FOR PETTERSEN
The Calgary Flames acquired center Riley Damiani from the Dallas Stars for center Mathias Emilio Pettersen.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
In Damiani, the Flames add a right-handed center to their depth in the minors. Both he and Pettersen were drafted in 2018, but neither has panned out at the NHL level. Damiani will have a better chance at earning a call up in Calgary, but this is primarily an AHL trade.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
With Pettersen, the Stars get a new look at a left-handed center. Though he has yet to make his NHL debut, Pettersen is having a better offensive season in the AHL than Damiani. Still, he should remain only a depth option in the minors for a Dallas team that is loaded up front.
Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact, but it offers a change of scenery to both Damiani and Pettersen. Neither player is likely to see much NHL ice time.
