The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Erik Johnson from the Buffalo Sabres for a fourth-round draft pick in 2024.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are in a playoff position at this time, and they recently traded Sean Walker. So, adding Johnson should help the back end down the stretch. Johnson is a proven winner and capable defensive defenseman. He should be motivated to join Philly.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres decided to trade away two of their big leaders just before the deadline in captain Kyle Okposo (Florida) and now Johnson. The latter did not make the impact expected of him this season, but Buffalo was at least able to get back a draft pick.
