WALMAN SENT TO SAN JOSE

The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman Jake Walman and a second-round draft pick in 2024 (No. 53 overall) from the Detroit Red Wings for future considerations.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks will gladly take defenseman Walman and a second-round pick in this year's draft here. San Jose needs a lot of help, especially on defense. Walman should help with that.

What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
This is a classic salary dump by Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings. He was able to get rid of all of Walman's salary by attaching a second-rounder (recently acquired) to this deal.

Fantasy impact
If Walman had fantasy value before this deal, surely it has disappeared now that he will (probably) log big minutes for one of the worst teams in the NHL.
