FLYERS LAND BIRON

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired goaltender Martin Biron from the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round draft pick in 2007.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia has been mired with goaltending issues for years and Biron has wanted out of Ryan Miller's shadow for some time. Plus, he's an upgrade over their current goaltending tandem. However, Biron will be unrestricted this summer. Obviously, the rebuilding Flyers like their chances re-signing him.

What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
In a perfect world, GM Darcy Regier and the Sabres would likely have kept Biron, but a rash of injuries forced this move. First-rounders are the price of landing a top-notch rental this season. Watch for Buffalo to flip the pick for a proven veteran who can step into the lineup right away.
