SOUCY SENT TO THE RANGERS
The New York Rangers acquired defenseman Carson Soucy from the Vancouver Canucks for a third-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers recently traded left stay-at-home defenseman Ryan Lindgren to Colorado, so now they replaced him with another in Soucy. Signed through next season, Soucy should help a New York squad that still views itself as a playoff contender heading into the final hours of the trade deadline.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks had a surplus on defense all of a sudden, thanks to the arrival of Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh and emergence of rookie Elias Pettersson. So Soucy became the odd man out. The third-round draft pick in 2025 was originally property of the San Jose Sharks, so it should be a good pick.
