MARCHAND MOVED TO FLORIDA!
The Florida Panthers acquired winger Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2027.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
In Marchand, the Panthers add an elite veteran winger to their lineup. The 36-year-old is not quite the point-per-game scorer he once was, but he still plays in all situations and is producing at a high level (47 points in 61 games this season). The only downside? He is currently injured with an uncertain timeline to return. In any case, he is expected back before the playoffs, and will be a huge addition as Florida attempts to defend their title as Stanley Cup champions.
What does it give the Boston Bruins
It is the end of an era in Boston. They are retooling and chose to get an asset for Marchand, their captain, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It is disappointing that the Bruins only got one draft pick in return, but that conditional second-rounder could become a first, which might make Marchand's departure hurt a little less.
Fantasy impact
Marchand's health is a question mark for the remainder of this season, so it's unclear if he will still factor into this fantasy year. Still, when he does debut for the Panthers, he should join their top six and take on an important role on the power play. Expect similar production from him in Florida. Just stay tuned for news on his injury status.
