SABRES ADD BROWN
The Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Brad Brown and a sixth-round draft pick in 2005 from the Minnesota Wild for a fourth-round draft pick in 2005.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
With Alexei Zhitnik currently injured, the Sabres needed to add some help for the blueline, so Brown should be a welcome addition. He usually plays it tough and safe, and appears to be the right fit for a team with plenty of offensive prowess but not enough size. Furthermore, Brown adds some leadership to the Sabres' plight.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Brown lost his semi-regular spot in the Wild lineup earlier this season to newcomer Alex Henry, so essentially Minnesota moved up two rounds in this deal for their No. 7 defenseman. While the 2005 is expected to be one of the deepest in years, it's always a good thing to move up.
