ROLSTON TO TAMPA BAY

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired winger Brian Rolston from the Minnesota Wild for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2010.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
These are not your father's Tampa Bay Lightning. With new ownership looking to make a splash, the Bolts have added another veteran winger that they hope can come to terms on a new contract before July 1. It worked with Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts, and now Tampa hopes to get Rolston's name on the dotted line. If he signs, Rolston is likely to play on the second line with Malone and super rookie Steven Stamkos.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild tried to get Rolston under contract, but instead will have to settle for a draft pick in return. The pick may still be wind up being a 2009 selection, depending on several conditions, but the bottom line for Minnesota is they are down a very versatile forward. This is bad news for a Wild club that's also expected to lose Pavol Demitra after July 1.
