DEVILS ACQUIRE NOREAU
The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Maxim Noreau from the Minnesota Wild for center David McIntyre.
What does it give the New Jersey Devils
Noreau is an offensive defenseman with some upside, and he'll get a better opportunity with New Jersey. He was stuck behind several other offensive D-men with the Wild, but he does have a shot at playing in the big league in 2011-12. The Devils have been seeking a power-play QB for a while, so Noreau becomes a dark horse for the role.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
Since there was little room in Minnesota for Noreau, they did him a favor by shipping him to the Devils. In return, the Wild land an AHL forward in McIntyre. He is a role player with modest long-term potential. In fact, McIntyre is likely to spent most (if not all) of 2011-12 in the AHL.
