STARS ADD NYSTROM
The Dallas Stars acquired forward Eric Nystrom from the Minnesota Wild for future considerations.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
The Stars were in the unique situation of needing to add salary to reach the cap floor, so they acquired Nystrom via trade (instead of claiming him on re-entry waivers). He'll be a solid addition to the fourth line in Dallas, as he'll be motivated to stick in the NHL.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
The Wild no longer needed Nystrom, so they did him a favor by waiving him, sending him down to the AHL and then waiving him again (re-entry). There were no takers, but eventually a deal was reached because of the Stars' situation. Minny won't get much back here.
