'YOTES ADD D-MAN VANDERMEER

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired defenseman Jim Vandermeer from the Calgary Flames for forward Brandon Prust.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes need to get better along the blueline, and they're taking steps in that direction. Prust was not needed as much as another big defenseman with a physical edge, so Vandermeer was a good acquisition.

What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames never wanted to part with Prust in the first place, but included him to complete the Olli Jokinen trade at the March deadline. He should resume his role as a principal agitator for the Flames.
