DUCKS, 'HAWKS SWAP FIVE

The Anaheim Ducks acquired goaltender Sebastien Caron, right wing Matt Keith and left wing Chris Durno from the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Pierre Parenteau and defenseman Bruno St. Jacques.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
This deal mainly affects the American Hockey League, since all five players were currently toiling in the minor leagues. However, in Caron the Ducks added the depth in goal lost when Michael Leighton was lost to Nashville via waivers. Keith may also see some time with the Ducks as a depth forward.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Both Parenteau and St. Jacques could see time in the NHL later this season for a 'Hawks team still looking for added depth. Parenteau has a little more offensive upside than Keith, which adds value from a Chicago standpoint. The Blackhawks felt they could afford to surrender third stringer Caron.
