BOURQUE TO CALGARY

The Calgary Flames acquired right winger Rene Bourque from the Chicago Blackhawks for a future second-round draft pick.

What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames needed help at left wing, after trading Alex Tanguay and letting Kristian Huselius and Marcus Nilson go via free agency. Enter Bourque, who will provide a little more speed and checking ability to the Calgary lineup. Though he is a streaky scorer, he'll probably wind up on the third line with the Flames.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks have a wealth of young forwards and needed to start making more room for them. Therefore, it makes sense to deal Bourque at this time. The fact that Chicago GM Dale Tallon was able to secure a future second rounder for Bourque's services is quite a coup.
