REASONER TO CATS
The Florida Panthers acquired center Marty Reasoner from the Chicago Blackhawks for winger Jeff Taffe.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
A former first-rounder (St. Louis, 1996), Reasoner never lived up to his early billing, but has forged a sound career as a serviceable depth NHL player, good on face-offs and solid in both zones. With over 600 career games, Reasoner's experience will help the rebuilding Panthers fill a much-needed veteran void.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Taffe has always teased hockey people with his attractive mixture of size, work ethic and points production at the lower levels. Unfortunately, he has never been able to display the latter throughout his numerous callups at the NHL level. Also a former first round draft choice by St. Louis (2000), Taffe will provide the Blackhawks with organizational depth.
