LAMPMAN FOR SCALZO

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Mario Scalzo from the Dallas Stars for defenseman Bryce Lampman.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa's return in what was a minor deal, Scalzo is a smallish defenseman with some offensive upside. He has nine points in 15 AHL games this season. The 23-year-old gives the team some depth as a power-play quarterback option and a potential heir apparent to Dan Boyle. He will report to Norfolk (AHL).

What does it give the Dallas Stars
The 25-year-old rearguard has had several cups of coffee in the NHL, but he essentially just constitutes depth at the position for the Stars. He will report to Iowa of the AHL, but may be recalled at some point if rookies Matt Niskanen and Niklas Grossman begin to struggle at the big-league level.
