MARTY SERTICH TO COLORADO
The Colorado Avalanche acquired center Marty Sertich from the Dallas Stars for a conditional draft pick in 2009.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
Sertich figures to be a key performer for the Avs' AHL affiliate in 2008-09, since the likes of T.J. Hensick are expected to graduate to the NHL. The 25-year-old Sertich may feel revitalized in returning to Colorado, where he won the Hobey Baker award as the NCAA's top player (2005). He's a solid depth player for Colorado.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
The Stars have a lot of players of similar ilk to Sertich, so receiving a future draft pick is about as well as could be expected in such a deal. Dallas has depth at center with Mike Ribeiro, Brad Richards and Mike Modano, so Sertich wasn't about to break through any time soon.
