LEAFS GET BRUNNSTROM

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired winger Fabian Brunnstrom from the Dallas Stars for forward Mikhail Stefanovich.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Leafs were high on Brunnstrom back in 2008, when the Swedish winger decided to sign with the Stars instead. However, he wasn't a good fit under coach Marc Crawford, so he'll get a fresh start in Toronto. Brunnstrom has scoring talent, and the Leafs could use more of that, so this could potentially work out for both parties.

What does it give the Dallas Stars
The Stars parted ways with Brunnstrom in order to land another young scoring forward considered mostly a 'project'. Stefanovich is younger than Brunnstrom, but also much further away from the NHL. He's been playing in the KHL this season, after stints in both the AHL and ECHL. If he fully commits to the North American game, Stefanovich might pan out.
