GARON TO PITTSBURGH

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Mathieu Garon from the Edmonton Oilers for goaltender Dany Sabourin, winger Ryan Stone and a fourth-round draft pick in 2011.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins are obviously somewhat concerned about the play of starter Marc-Andre Fleury this season, who has been inconsistent. Enter Garon, who will likely push Fleury for playing time a little more than Sabourin was able to do. The Pens hope Garon can do for Fleury what Ty Conklin accomplished last season.

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers save a little salary with this move, add a project in Stone and a future asset down the road in a fourth-rounder. What they don't do is clear up the three-headed monster in goal. Sabourin may not be long for Edmonton if the club plans on giving Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers more action down the stretch. This also signifies that starter Dwayne Roloson may once again be in the team's future plans.
