CANUCKS LAND DUCO FOR SHIROKOV
The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Mike Duco from the Florida Panthers for winger Sergei Shirokov.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
Duco is a fourth-line energy player who could be a nice fit in Vancouver, provided he's good enough to make the squad. The Canucks lost both Raffi Torres and Tanner Glass to free agency, so Duco just may get that opportunity in 2011-12.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
Shirokov is quite a bit more talented than Duco, but he's also expected to play in the KHL in 2011-12. If the Panthers can somehow convince the Russian winger to reverse his decision, they could land a steal of a deal here.
