'HAWKS LAND VETERAN C HANDZUS
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired center Michal Handzus from the San Jose Sharks for a fourth-round draft pick in 2013.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Veteran Handzus has lost a step over time and doesn't do much scoring, but he is still a very good face-off man. That is essentially why the Blackhawks landed him. He may serve a depth role but is not expected to have much of an impact if Chicago is fully healthy heading into the playoffs.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
The Sharks received a decent return here in a fourth rounder, as Handzus had essentially lost his spot in the lineup recently. With {P Scott Gomez}, {P Adam Burish} and {P Andrew Desjardins} seeing a lot of time on the fourth line these days, the need for Handzus lessened considerably.
Fantasy impact
Don't look for much fantasy value in Handzus. While moving to Chicago is usually a boon for any hockey player from a fantasy standpoint, Handzus will have a specific role in Chicago...and it won't be scoring goals.
