STARS TRADE VINCOUR TO COLORADO
The Colorado Avalanche acquired winger Tomas Vincour from the Dallas Stars for defenseman Cameron Gaunce.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche are expected to lose former team captain {P Milan Hejduk} to retirement at the end of the season, so there may be openings at right wing. Vincour hasn't done much so far in his NHL career but perhaps a change of scenery will serve him well. He has some scoring upside, to go along with two-way acumen and good size, so this is a low-risk move for the Avs.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
After adding more offensive types in {P Joe Morrow} and {P Kevin Connauton} in earlier deals, the Stars decided to go for a more stay-at-home defense prospect here in Gaunce, who could see NHL action fairly soon. Like Vincour, his development appeared to stagnate so a change of scenery should do him a world of good as well. This deal could pan out for both sides.
Fantasy impact
Gaunce doesn't have much fantasy upside, so he is more of a real-life acquisition than a fantasy pickup. As for Vincour, he has super-sleeper appeal as a scorer...especially now that he joins the offensively-gifted Avs. That said, the Czech winger may not establish himself with his new organization until some time in the 2013-14 campaign.
