JACKETS LAND DEPTH FORWARD COMEAU

The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired forward Blake Comeau from the Calgary Flames for a fifth-round draft pick in 2013.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
After trading away three players to acquire {P Marian Gaborik} from the Rangers, the Jackets needed to add more depth up front. Therefore, they land Comeau here. A versatile forward, Comeau can play all three forward positions but is mainly a winger. That is where the Jackets need him, but he isn't a lock to play all the time. He will need to re-establish himself with a new organization (his third in the NHL).

What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames continue to stockpile picks, so moving out a bottom-six forward for a fifth rounder is a pretty good return at this time. This should give the Flames an opportunity to place a younger body in the lineup for an audition for the rest of 2013. They still have some veteran talent but Calgary is clearly in rebuilding mode at this time.

Fantasy impact
Comeau could get a boost with this move, but he may also get lost in the shuffle. He was acquired for depth purposes, so it could go either way.
