PREDS ADD D BRENNAN FOR BUTLER

The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman T.J. Brennan from the Florida Panthers for winger Bobby Butler.

What does it give the Nashville Predators
In Brennan, Nashville gets an offensive defenseman that played well in his brief stint with Florida (after coming over from Buffalo in 2013). He may see time on the power play and provide badly-needed offense for a goal-challenged franchise. He'll have competition for playing time but could make an impact (provided he adjusts to Nashville's hard-working style).

What does it give the Florida Panthers
The Panthers are hoping Butler can find some consistency with them, after stops in Ottawa, New Jersey and Nashville. He has a scoring touch but it comes in streaks. The rest of his game needs work but the 26-year-old winger still has time to figure things out. Like Brennan with his new team, Butler will have to compete for playing time in South Florida.

Fantasy impact
Both Brennan and Butler have untapped fantasy value, so this move could benefit both players. That said, neither the Predators nor Panthers are offensive juggernauts so expectations are tempered as a result.
