SHARKS ADD VETERAN WINGER BROWN
The San Jose Sharks acquired winger Mike Brown from the Edmonton Oilers for a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
In veteran Brown, the Sharks add a speedy, gritty, hard-working forward who excels when killing penalties. He is also capable of providing toughness and agitation, though he's not an enforcer per se. With {P Adam Burish} (back surgery) out indefinitely, Brown should become a staple on San Jose's fourth line this season.
What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers get good value for one of their fourth-line veterans here, though the timing of the deal is a bit curious (since Edmonton is battling several injuries up front at present time). Still, a fourth-round pick is a solid return for a solid citizen heading towards the down side of his career. This is a good deal all around.
Fantasy impact
Brown won't have much fantasy value in his new digs, mostly because he never really had much to begin with. What this move does do is alleviate some of the logjam the Oilers would face if they were healthy up front.
