PENGUINS GET MACHACEK FOR THOMPSON

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired winger Spencer Machacek from the Columbus Blue Jackets for winger Paul Thompson.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The 25-year-old Machacek has 25 games of NHL experience. He's a hard-working winger in the mold that Pittsburgh coach {B Dan Bylsma} prefers, so he has a chance to work his way onto the Penguins' fourth line at some point.

What does it give the Columbus Blue Jackets
The 25-year-old Thompson is a decent minor-league scorer who should provide a little bit more depth for the Blue Jackets. That said, he's not expected to impact the NHL squad in any way. This deal was mostly an AHL transaction.

Fantasy impact
Neither Machacek nor Thompson has much fantasy value to begin with, and neither is expected to spend much time in the NHL for the foreseeable future. Therefore, this trade won't make any fantasy impact.
