CHICAGO GETS CONNELLY FOR WINCHESTER

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired defenseman Brian Connelly from the Minnesota Wild for winger Brad Winchester.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
In Connelly, the Blackhawks receive a depth defnseman they know well (he was with the Chicago organization from 2009-12). He adds offense from the back end but will likely remain in the AHL unless injuries mount.

What does it give the Minnesota Wild
A veteran of 390 NHL games, Winchester has size and versatility. Therefore, he could find his way back to the big league before season's end. At worst, Winchester will add organizational depth on the wings.

Fantasy impact
Connelly would be a fantasy sleeper if he reached Chicago, but their blueline depth should prevent that from happening. Winchester doesn't hold much fantasy value at all (in any category).
