FLAMES ADD RUGGED LW BOLLIG
The Calgary Flames acquired winger Brandon Bollig from the Chicago Blackhawks for a third-round draft pick in 2014.
What does it give the Calgary Flames
The Flames are looking to get bigger on the wings, and add truculence in general, so the arrival of Bollig should be a major boost. He mainly played on Chicago's fourth line but could move up to Line 3 in Calgary (or be an invaluable fourth liner). The cost was steep, but Bollig fills a big need.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks needed to shed some salary, so they moved out Bollig and his $1.25 million contract (through 2016-17). His departure leaves Chicago a bit smaller but it does open up a roster spot for winger {P Jeremy Morin}--who has been knocking on the NHL door for a while now.
Fantasy impact
Bollig may play more in Calgary, but his fantasy impact remains somewhat limited. He is an intriguing option in leagues where hits, penalty minutes and fights are more prevalent. Morin could be the biggest winner here as long as he is able to secure a roster spot in training camp. He's a fantasy sleeper for '14-15.
