CAPS ADD GOALTENDING DEPTH IN PASQUALE
The Washington Capitals acquired goaltender Eddie Pasquale and a sixth-round draft pick in 2014 from the Winnipeg Jets for a sixth-round draft pick in 2014, a seventh-round draft pick in 2014 and a seventh-round draft pick in 2015.
What does it give the Washington Capitals
The Capitals add a potential third-string netminder in Pasquale, who was going to be squeezed out of the picture in Winnipeg due to other prospects moving up their depth chart. There shouldn't be the same issue for Pasquale in D.C., so he will likely play behind {P Braden Holtby} and {P Phillip Grubauer} in 2014-15.
What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
The Jets like prospects {P Connor Hellebuyck} and {P Eric Comrie} a lot, plus they have plans for {P Michael Hutchinson} (potential backup in 2014-15?), so that left Pasquale without a chair when the music stopped. Therefore, the Jets took a pair of seventh rounders in exchange for Pasquale and a swap of sixth rounders.
Fantasy impact
For now, Pasquale doesn't need to be on the fantasy radar at all. Unless he beats out Grubauer in training camp, he'll remain on the outside looking in. Also note that the Caps may decide to acquire a veteran backup for Holtby, which would then further push Pasquale down the depth chart.
