OZOLINSH TO BIG APPLE
The New York Rangers acquired defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for a third-round draft pick in 2006.
What does it give the New York Rangers
Ozolinsh is a veteran offensive defenseman and seven-time all-star. He'll boost up the power play a bit as a guy who can really move the puck up into the offensive zone, make some plays and shoot the puck. He's had some personal problems this year, so the Rangers have to hope they're a thing of the past, but if all goes well the Rangers will be putting a few more pucks in the net thanks to this acquisition.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
This is a bit of a surprising trade for the Ducks, who are just three points out of a playoff spot. The loss of Ozolinsh is a big one for their offensive attack. Worse, they got very little in return.
