CHISTOV TO BOSTON

The Boston Bruins acquired left wing Stanislav Chistov from the Anaheim Ducks for a third-round draft pick in 2007 and future considerations.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
Chistov essentially replaces Sergei Samsonov, who was traded away by the Bruins at last year's deadline. Chistov fell out of favor with Anaheim's new regime, and never got back into the lineup on a regular basis. His slick offensive game should mesh well in Boston, who need a little more production from the left wing position.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks are sitting pretty in first place these days, blessed with plenty of offensive balance. Therefore, they were able to deal Chistov at this time for a future asset. Chistov failed to beat out Ryan Shannon and others, and wound up a healthy scratch on most nights this season. For one, Ducks GM Brian Burke won't miss Chistov, whose game goes against Burke's philosophy. Burke also acquired the option of swapping fourth-round draft picks in 2008 with Boston in this deal.
