INJURY-RAVAGED JETS GET D HARRISON

The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Jay Harrison from the Carolina Hurricanes for a sixth-round draft pick in 2015.

What does it give the Winnipeg Jets
This is a trade that was to be expected, since the Jets are currently missing all four of their top blueliners to injury: {P Jacob Trouba}, {P Toby Enstrom}, {P Zach Bogosian} and {P Mark Stuart}. Therefore, they sent a late pick for a depth defenseman like Harrison, a blueliner familiar with current Jets coach Paul Maurice from their days together in Carolina.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
For the 'Canes, this is probably just the beginning of more changes. Harrison wasn't being used every night by new Carolina coach Bill Peters, so the writing was probably on the wall. This should allow the 'Canes to evaluate Czech rearguard {P Michal Jordan} at the National Hockey League level better. The pick is a bonus for a team expected to be sellers.

Fantasy impact
The big fantasy winner here should be Jordan, who will likely receive more minutes with the Hurricanes. He's a fantasy dark horse. As for Harrison, his value is virtually non-existent.
