VANCOUVER ADDS SHANNON

The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Ryan Shannon from the Anaheim Ducks for winger Jason King and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2009.

What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
Ryan Shannon is an extremely gifted, if a little small, offensive winger who has been buried on the fourth line in Anaheim. In Vancouver, he will get a shot on one of the big lines with either the Sedin twins or Markus Naslund. The 24-year-old will be one to watch, since he can line up at center or either wing position.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The 25-year-old King has shown flashes of offense in Vancouver, but played last season in Sweden and is signed to play another year in Europe. Therefore, the conditional pick in '09 likely hinges upon King's return to North America. At this point, that seems unlikely.
