ISLANDERS ACQUIRE RW KENNEDY

The New York Islanders acquired winger Tyler Kennedy from the San Jose Sharks for a conditional draft pick.

What does it give the New York Islanders
Kennedy is a decent veteran depth winger who will probably be a spare part on Long Island, provided they're fully healthy up front. He provides good insurance, though, and also has a lot of Stanley Cup playoff experience, which adds to his overall value.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
This is a good deal for the Sharks, mainly because Kennedy didn't play very well during his time in San Jose. So instead, they get a future asset to bank for down the road. Kennedy was essentially replaced by {P Ben Smith} in another trade.

Fantasy impact
Kennedy doesn't have a lot of fantasy value, but he might have a bit of short-term value if he effectively replaces one of the injured forwards on the Isles at present time.
