DUCKS GET HOLZER FROM TORONTO

The Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman Korbinian Holzer from the Toronto Maple Leafs for defenseman Eric Brewer and a fifth-round draft pick in 2016.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks overhauled their blueline on deadline day, and Holzer was the latest addition. He's a solid depth defenseman who essentially replaces the departed {P Ben Lovejoy} in another deal. Holzer has had injury issues in Toronto but should be ready to play, if needed.

What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
Brewer is just a contract that the Leafs needed to take back in order to send Holzer to the Ducks, so the addition here is the draft pick. Holzer was a depth defenseman for Toronto, which is what Brewer will be for the balance of 2014-15. This deal is about getting worse, not better.

Fantasy impact
Holzer and Brewer don't have much fantasy value, so this deal won't change anything there.
