DUCKS, AVS SWAP AHL TALENT

The Anaheim Ducks acquired forward Michael Sgarbossa from the Colorado Avalanche for defense Mat Clark.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
This is an intriguing deal that could benefit both organizations (and possibly even at the NHL level), though both players are currently toiling in the AHL. With the Ducks forced to part with {P William Karlsson} in a deal with Columbus, they quickly replaced him by adding Sgarbossa. He's solid depth up front.

What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
Clark is a no-nonsense defenseman who saw time in the National Hockey League earlier this season, so he has a chance to see time with the Avalanche at some point in 2014-15. A Colorado native, the 24-year-old Clark could be a very underrated addition here. The Avs have a knack for adding AHL players who wind up contributing.

Fantasy impact
Sgarbossa isn't as talented as Karlsson but he may be a fantasy dark horse now that he is with Anaheim (Colorado is too deep at center, so Sgarbossa had no chance of cracking their lineup). Clark has limited fantasy value as more of a stay-at-home type.
