BOYNTON TO THE BLACKHAWKS
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired defenseman Nick Boynton from the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations.
What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Boynton is in the minors but may be a nice blueline insurance policy for the 'Hawks for the playoffs. His career has taken a decided downturn but when he's focused and on his game he provides excellent toughness and can chip in offensively. If he doesn't prove useful, his contract comes off the books after this season.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks get to rid themselves of the rest of Boynton's contract for this season (he's an impending unresticted free agent) after he didn't pan out with them. They also get a little bonus with the future considerations.
