OILERS GET DEPTH DEFENSEMAN GRYBA

The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Eric Gryba from the Ottawa Senators for winger Travis Ewanyk and a fourth-round draft pick in 2015 (No. 107 overall).

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
In Gryba, the Oilers land a physical depth defenseman who shoots right--something they needed. He essentially replaces Martin Marincin on the roster, since the latter was traded earlier. Gryba brings more of a physical element than Marincin.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
For the Senators, trading a defenseman was important since they had eight NHL-caliber rearguards. They landed a pick that the Oilers had acquired in the Marincin trade, plus an organizational depth winger in Ewanyk.

Fantasy impact
Gryba and Ewanyk don't have much in the way of fantasy value, as they are depth/role players.
