PENS ADD MODIG
The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Mattias Modig from the Anaheim Ducks for a sixth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins see something in Modig, and he should have an easier time eventually reaching the NHL in his new organization, since the Pens don't have a lot of depth in goal beyond the big club. Modig could remain in Sweden in 2010-11, however.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks weren't likely to sign the Swedish 'tender, as they are pretty stocked at the position throughout their organization. Therefore, they took a flyer on a late-round draft pick instead.
