FLYERS, DUCKS SWAP PROSPECTS

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Danny Syvret and forward Rob Bordson from the Anaheim Ducks for wingers Patrick Maroon and David Laliberte.

What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
Syvret was himself a longtime prospect for Philly (before signing with the Ducks organization over the summer) and is an offensive rearguard who has dominated at both the junior and AHL levels. Look for Syvret to get called up if injuries strike, as he knows the Flyers system and has little to prove in the minors. Bordson excelled as a scorer at the U.S. college level the past few seasons, and could be up with the Flyers once he proves himself at the AHL level.

What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
Maroon may ultimately be the prize of this deal, as he's a budding goal-scorer with a lot of edge to his game and still plenty of untapped upside. He fell out of favor this year with the Flyers' organization--dismissed from the team recently due to behavior issues--and while he now has much to prove, Maroon may be a perfect fit for the aggressive, chippy style Anaheim plays. Laliberte is a nice bonus in the deal and has some NHL experience as well. If both wingers prove themselves early on in the minors, they could be called up sooner rather than later.
